Competitions:
Special Olympics provides athletes at all levels of ability with opportunities to compete at the community, district (regional), provincial, national and international level. There are also opportunities for athletes to compete at in generic competitions (i.e. Saskatchewan Games and Canada Games).Community:
Invitational and integrated competitions offer additional competitive opportunities prior to district competitions. This competitive level may involve athletes from one or more sports.District/Regional
District competitions offer competitive opportunities to athletes and communities within the district boundaries. District competitions may offer one or more sports, and may qualify athletes to advance to Provincial Games.Provincial
Provincial Games are multi-sport events held every two years that alternate between summer and winter events. Athletes are selected from this competition to participate at the National Games.National
National Games are large multi-sport competitions held every two years that rotate between summer and winter events. Athletes selected from these highly competitive events compete at the World Games, representing Special Olympics Canada.International/World
