In a few simple steps, you will be on your way to volunteer at your local Special Olympics community.
Step 1: Making Contact Contact your local Special Olympics Executive or Special Olympics Saskatchewan via phone 1-888-307-6226, email, or fax, and notify them that you are interested in volunteering.
Step 2: Volunteer Registration Form Special Olympics Saskatchewan or your local community executive will provide you with the Volunteer Registration Form. You can also download this form by clicking on the above link. Please inform us about your contact information, what areas you would like to volunteer in, and any qualifications you may have.
Step 3: Screening Complete the Criminal Record Check form that you obtained from either your local community executive or Special Olympics Saskatchewan. You can also download this form by clicking on the link above. Personally submit this form to your local RCMP/Police authorities for them to inquire. This is strictly for risk management purposes to ensure that all volunteers and athletes are safe and protected.
Step 4: Volunteer Orientation Each new volunteer will receive a 2007-08 Volunteer Handbook . After you have finished reviewing the guide, please sign and date the Confirmation Disclaimer found on page 49.
Step 5: Submission of Forms Submit the completed Volunteer Registration Form, Criminal Record Check, and the Confirmation Disclaimer of the Volunteer Orientation Handbook to your local community executive who will then forward it along with the registration fee to the provincial office.
Step 6: Clearance to Volunteer After the provincial office reviews and processes your information, you will have clearance to volunteer with your accredited Special Olympics Community.

Step 7: Coach/Volunteer Qualifications To become a coach, you need to complete the coaching qualifications as outlined in SOS Policy 4000-08 coach volunteer qualifications. Within the first year of volunteering all new coaches are required to take the new NCCP SOC Community Sport or Competition Sport workshop.
